Lyrics
Remember when time was all we had?
Reflecting on a past when time seemed abundant and carefree.
No care for the sand in the hourglass
Not worrying about the passage of time, represented by sand in an hourglass.
Each new night was another shot
Every new night was an opportunity or chance.
To stake our claim on a parking lot
Trying to establish a sense of ownership or significance in mundane places like a parking lot.
Remember when friends we're all we'd need?
Nostalgia for a time when friendships were enough.
Day followed the night and we'd let it lead
Following the natural flow of time without resistance.
In the basement
Referencing a specific location, possibly a place of shared memories.
On the pavement
Highlighting the simplicity of life on the streets.
We couldn't conceive of an end to it
Unable to imagine an end to the carefree lifestyle.
But it's not like that anymore
Contrasting the current reality with the past, acknowledging a change.
Re-group, re-calculate
Suggesting the need to regroup and reconsider.
Rushing in was our first mistake
Recognizing impulsiveness as a previous error.
Re-think, re-calibrate
Advocating for a reassessment and adjustment of plans.
Set our sights on something bigger
Setting goals for something more substantial or meaningful.
(Maybe move on to better things)
Expressing a desire to move on to better opportunities.
Remember the pain of growing up?
Recalling the discomfort of the maturation process.
It may have hurt but it sure was fun
Acknowledging that despite the pain, growing up was enjoyable.
It made us who we are now
Linking past experiences to shaping the present identity.
It gave us a mystery to figure out
Viewing challenges as mysteries to be solved or understood.
This is what we waited for
Anticipation and fulfillment of waiting for a significant moment.
These days not much has changed
Noting that despite the passage of time, some aspects remain unchanged.
Except how we feel and whats at stake
Recognizing shifts in emotions and increased stakes in current situations.
But we are still the same
Asserting continuity in core identity despite external changes.
Should we chose to linger
Pondering the choice between staying or progressing to better opportunities.
Or move on to better things
Contemplating whether to hold onto the past or embrace new and improved prospects.
