Blue
Finding Light in the Shadows: Jamie Drake's Melancholic ReflectionsLyrics
When you’re blue
Feeling down or sad
All the colors are just one
When in a state of sadness, everything seems dull and monochromatic
And no part of you feels like having fun
No part of oneself is interested in enjoyment or having a good time
And the sky turns from blue to grey
The sky, representing optimism, changes from blue to grey, mirroring the emotional shift
So no part of you feels like you’re ok
Feeling not okay and lacking well-being
You can wish and hope and pray for someone
Expressing a desire for someone to come and provide support or assistance
To come along and save the day
Hoping for a savior to improve the situation
Isn’t that what Jesus came to do now?
Raising a question about the purpose of Jesus coming to save
I don’t know what to do with that
Expressing uncertainty or confusion about the concept
So just hide in a corner or a cave
Suggesting withdrawing or seeking refuge in isolation
And try to turn your mind into your slave
Encouraging self-control over thoughts and emotions
And just listen to all of those self helpless books
Mockingly referring to self-help books that may not provide effective solutions
Look in the mirror and compliment your good looks
Advising self-affirmation and finding positives in oneself
Because you can wish and hope and pray for someone
Repeating the desire for external help and support
To come along and save the day
Reiterating the hope for someone to rescue from difficulties
Isn’t that what Jesus came to do now?
Questioning the expected role of Jesus in providing salvation
I don’t know what to do with that
Expressing confusion or doubt about the concept of salvation
Because you can wish and hope and pray for someone
Again expressing the desire for external assistance
To come along and take the blame
Adding a nuance of someone taking responsibility or blame for the situation
Isn’t that what Jesus came to do now?
Questioning the expected role of Jesus in taking blame
I don’t know what to do with that
Reiterating uncertainty or confusion about the concept mentioned
