Let it Rain
Embracing Storms: Julia Calvin's Poetic Journey through Shadows and ResilienceLyrics
I thought I had it figured out
I believed I understood everything
I thought I learned my lessons, no more second-guessing
I thought I had learned my lessons and wouldn't doubt myself again
I thought I made it through the doubt
I believed I overcame uncertainty
But I am retrogressing to my great depressions
However, I am regressing to a state of deep sadness
And only those of us who have grown up through shadows and thorns
People who have experienced difficulties and challenges understand the darkness that can consume and overwhelm
We know the darkness that'll beat you up and eat you up and swallow you whole
The darkness is described as something that can harm and consume a person entirely
So don't go asking how I've been 'cause you don't really want to hear the truth
Don't inquire about my well-being if you're not prepared to hear the harsh reality
And that's okay
Accepting that some may not be ready to hear the truth, and that's acceptable
But I don't want to feel these wild fires overflowing in my veins
Expressing a desire not to experience intense emotions
So let it rain
Advocating for letting emotions and difficulties come, like rain
Let it rain
Reiteration of the need to let it rain
(Let it rain)
Reiteration with emphasis (Let it rain)
Let it rain
Further emphasis on letting it rain
Such deep devotion feels so wrong
Feeling conflicted about a strong devotion that seems incorrect
When my biggest passion burns my name to ashes
Experiencing pain when the most significant passion leads to personal destruction
My faith is stumbling like it's drunk
Having a wavering faith that resembles drunkenness
And everybody's laughing, no-one sees me crashing
Feeling unnoticed and laughed at during personal struggles
Only those of us who have grown up through shadows and thorns
Those who have faced challenges understand the all-consuming darkness
We know the darkness that'll beat you up and eat you up and swallow you whole
Reiteration of the destructive nature of the darkness
So don't go asking how I've been if you don't really want to hear the truth
Advising against asking about well-being if not ready for the truth
Just let it rain
Stressing the importance of allowing emotions to come and accepting them
Don't go asking me what's wrong, I wouldn't really know what words to say
Discouraging inquiries about personal struggles as it's challenging to express
So just let it rain
Encouraging the acceptance of emotional release, letting it rain
Let it rain
Reiteration of the call to let it rain
Let it rain
Continued emphasis on allowing emotions to flow like rain
Let it rain
Further repetition of the call to let it rain
Let it wash the pain away
Suggesting that letting it rain will cleanse and alleviate pain
You know these forest storms, they never came to stay
Comparing personal struggles to temporary storms that will pass
So let's not talk, just let it rain
Advocating silence and letting emotions flow until the difficulties subside
Until these clouds have rolled away
Expressing a desire for emotional relief to continue until the clouds of difficulty have cleared
Just let it rain
Reiteration of the recommendation to let it rain
Let it rain
Emphasizing the need to let emotions flow and not suppress them
(Oooh)
Expressing emotion (Oooh)
