I was just a kid who wanted to live
I was a young individual desiring to experience life.

I took charge, becoming the controller of my destiny.
Had to grow up quick
I matured quickly.
I don't remember being a younging
I don't recall my childhood distinctly.
I remember all the struggles
I remember the challenges I faced.
I remember out here thugging
I recall engaging in street life.
I remember it was hard but somehow I made it look easy
Despite difficulties, I made it appear effortless.
I've been going with the flow now and life has been breezy
Currently, life is smooth, and I go with the flow.
Life has been wavy life has been crazy
Life has been both unpredictable and chaotic.
I really had to throw blows with the variables daily
I faced challenges regularly.
Tina's son that's me it's hard to miss JT
I am Tina's son, often recognized as JT.
When you're looking in my eyes tell me what you see
When you look into my eyes, what do you perceive?
I saw a child who was raised in the wild
I was a child raised in a challenging environment.
I see those tears but sometimes love is blind
Love sometimes obscures the harsh reality.
Come close my child
Come closer, and I can comfort you.
I can wipe those tears for you
I can wipe away your tears.
Now lift up your head
Lift your head; positive changes are on the horizon.
You're going to see what God's going to do
Believe in what God has planned for you.
I was just a kid who wanted to live
Reiteration of the desire to live as a child.
And now I am a man you can see now what I did
Reflection on the accomplishments and growth into manhood.

Emphasis on the importance of swift action and control.
I had to take control become the master of my fate right
Continued emphasis on taking control of one's fate.
I remember a life now before all this hustle
Recollection of a life before the hustle and struggles.
I remember a life before I had the muscle
Remembering a time without the strength or influence.
Zipping to and fro no halo but I had a glow
Describing a period of movement without a clear purpose.
I'll leave it now at that that's for those who know
A cryptic statement, leaving room for interpretation.
If you see me now in person come and dap me up
Inviting personal interaction, indicating a positive outlook.
I harbor no hate friends yeah it's all love
No harbored resentment; relationships are filled with love.
Come give me a hug JT you're so personable
A call for friendly connection but maintaining boundaries.
But I'm rolling with a squadron so please don't get to personal
Being cautious about personal space due to affiliations.
People look me in the eyes, and say they're down to ride
Building trust through shared experiences.
I believe them now because we walk side by side
Belief in the authenticity of those walking alongside.
I learned that life is short and I learned that life is fleeting
Realization of life's brevity and transient nature.
The kid is forever hungry so I have to feed him
An enduring hunger for success and progress.
I was just a kid who wanted to live
Reiteration of the childhood desire to live.
And now I am a man you can see now what I did
Evidence of growth and achievements in adulthood.
