Deployed to Vietnam, experiencing horrors.
Constant screams and the smell of napalm

Crawlin' round head deep in mud
Crawling in mud, witnessing bloodshed.
His hands covered with his own blood
Personal injury in the midst of chaos.
Where his buddies are he hasn't a single clue
Lost and separated from comrades.
He prays I hate this place
Praying to go home, expressing hatred for the war.

They pull into the drive, and he climbs out
Arriving home, stepping out of the vehicle.
He cries I love this place
Expressing love for the familiar surroundings.
Lord you brought me home
Gratitude for being brought home safely.
Got me outta there I knew I wasn't alone
Acknowledging the support, realizing he wasn't alone.
I can hug my mom
Finally able to embrace his mom.
And there's my dad
Reuniting with his father.
Where's that damn dog I need a laugh
