I Dreamed A Dream
Dreams Shattered: A Poignant Reflection on Hope, Love, and LossLyrics
I dreamed a dream in times gone by,
I had an aspiration in the past
when hope was high and life worth living
During a time when optimism prevailed and life had value
I dreamed, that love would never die
I envisioned a love that would endure
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
I hoped for God's forgiveness and benevolence
Then I was young and unafraid
At that time, I was young and fearless
and dreams were made and used and wasted
Dreams were created, utilized, and squandered
There was no ransom to be paid
There was no need for redemption
No song unsung, no wine untasted
No experience or pleasure left unexplored
But the tigers come at night
However, troubles arrived in the form of metaphorical tigers
with their voices soft as thunder,
Their voices were gentle but powerful
as they tear your hope apart
They dismantled my hope
as they turn your dream to shame!
Turning my dreams into disgrace
He slept a summer by my side,
A person shared a season of warmth with me
he filled my days with endless wonder,
Filling my days with boundless amazement
he took my childhood in his stride,
Yet, he took away my childhood without hesitation
but he was gone when autumn came
Leaving when hardships arose
And still I dream he'll come to me,
Despite this, I still hope he will return
that we will live the years together
Imagining a future together
But there are dreams that cannot be
Acknowledging that some dreams are unattainable
And there are storms we cannot weather!
Recognizing challenges that cannot be overcome
I had a dream my life would be
I envisioned a life vastly different from my current suffering
so different from this hell I'm living,
Reality is starkly different from what I had envisioned
so different now from what it seemed
Life has shattered the idealized dream
Now life has killed the dream
The dream I once had is now dead
I dreamed
Reiterating the demise of the dream
