I shake and fall underneath my sheets
I experience fear and collapse beneath my bed covers.
The sunlight creeping from my head down to my feet
The sunlight gradually enters my room from head to feet, signaling the start of a new day.
Telling me to rise and face the light again
The light urges me to rise and confront the challenges ahead.
I plead to dawn, "don't make me move"
I implore the dawn not to force me to face reality.
I just want to vanish and forget all that's true
I desire to disappear and forget the harsh truths of life.
Just one more night and I'll be alright
Expressing a hope that one more night of avoidance will bring solace.
Hoping to be everything you want
Expressing a desire to fulfill the expectations of someone important.
Wish I was the man that you thought I was
Wishing to be the person someone perceives or expects.
Waiting to fly up on eagles wings
Hoping for a transformative experience, akin to flying on eagles' wings.
But truth be told, I'm not that bold at all
Admitting the truth that the speaker lacks the boldness required for such transformations.
I'm more frightened
Expressing a state of fear.
White lightening
Comparing fear to white lightning, sudden and blinding.
So sudden and blinding

Yet no more enlightened
Despite the fear, there is no increase in understanding or enlightenment.

I've just got to catch up for my world to resume
Desire to catch up and resume a balanced life.
To be light and to hold you tight while you dream
To experience joy and hold a loved one close during dreams.
And I stand alone so does everyone
Standing alone, emphasizing a universal sense of solitude.
It brings us closer as a strange distant sum
Acknowledging that shared experiences of standing alone bring people closer together.
So near so far like distance stars
Comparing the nearness and farness of individuals to distant stars.
Hoping to be everything you want
Reiterating the desire to meet expectations.
Wish I was the man that you thought I was
Wishing to embody the positive perception someone holds.
Waiting to fly up on eagles wings
Yearning for a transformative experience, symbolized by flying on eagles' wings.
But truth be told, I'm not that bold at all
Admitting the lack of boldness required for the desired transformation.
I'm just frightened
Reiterating a state of fear.
Woke up this morning like that
Waking up with fear in the morning.

Lonely
