Some believe that happiness can be burdensome.
As I lie here trying to attain

But the more I see through the more I have to gain

If at first you don't succeed its normal
Initial failures are common, but success is expected on subsequent attempts.
But the second time you're expected to perform
Expectations for successful performance increase after the first failure.
We perform
Engaging in a performance or activity.
Stand up, listen, ill tell you where we went wrong
Acknowledging mistakes and explaining where things went wrong.
Give me a reason to stop asking
Requesting a compelling reason to cease questioning or seeking.
I know that some things can't be mine
Understanding that certain things cannot be possessed.

Feeling a lack of significance internally and externally.
And the layers crumble one piece at a time
Experiencing a gradual breakdown of layers or barriers.
if you expect me to go out there and shine every night
Expressing reluctance to consistently shine or perform every night.
You know there's something about that that just isn't right
Recognizing an inherent issue with the expectation of constant brilliance.
