When your convictions become fiction
When your beliefs or strong convictions lose their truth and become false or imaginary.
Then you have your own addiction
At that point, you develop your own dependency or obsession.
To the creation of friction
Resulting in the deliberate creation of conflict or tension.
And your asinine depiction
And your foolish and ridiculous representation of the situation.
Of your own morality, containing discrepancy
Your concept of what's morally right contains inconsistencies or discrepancies.
When your holier than thou approach destroys all chance of unity
When your self-righteous attitude destroys any opportunity for togetherness or harmony.
We're left with an empty whole
We're left in a state of emptiness.
Divide our scene and we've got no soul
Dividing our community or group results in a loss of collective spirit.
If we start to fight at no more than just a word
If mere words lead to conflicts or fights,
Then there is something wrong and we're following the herd
Then something is amiss, and we're mindlessly following the crowd.
Falling on your face again
Facing failure repeatedly due to conflicts with those who should be your allies.
That's what happens when you fight your brothers
This is the consequence when you engage in conflict with your own community.
You see the track to the wrongs to the right
Recognizing the path from the wrongs to the rights in our actions.
Its time to recognize that we're standing side by side
It's time to acknowledge that we stand together.
There's no room to criticize
There's no space to pass judgment on others.
Our feet are on the ground
We are firmly grounded,
and the obstacles abound
but challenges and difficulties surround us.
We can swim or drown
We can either overcome them or succumb to them.
You might think that you're out of step
You might feel out of sync with others,
I just think that you want the rep
But I believe you desire the recognition or reputation associated with your chosen mindset.
The reputation that comes with your chosen state of mind
The reputation that comes with your particular state of thinking.
If you looked outside you might just find
If you broaden your perspective, you may discover
That life is full of wonder when you join your brothers
That life holds incredible experiences when you unite with your peers.
Dull the edge for it cuts right through
If you blunt the sharpness of your criticisms or actions,
Dull the edge or it cuts back into you
Otherwise, those sharp criticisms or actions will harm you in return.
