Fading Bonds of YouthLyrics
We grew up together
We shared a common upbringing
We saw it all we thought we had it made
We experienced life together, thinking we had a secure future
But how was I gonna know
I couldn't have foreseen that our close connection would diminish
That the bond we had would soon begin to fade
The bond we had started to weaken
The times we spent the fun we had
Memorable moments and enjoyable times
Are the memories that just turned bad
Those memories have turned negative
But that's the price we pay for being young
This is the cost of youthful mistakes and experiences
We roamed the streets of every town
We explored the streets of various towns
We almost had the country on its knees
We almost achieved widespread influence
But mass acceptance dragged you down
Mainstream acceptance brought you down
We were a problem overcome with ease
We were a challenge easily overcome
But unlike as we thought was right
Our actions did not align with what we believed was right
We went down without a fight
We surrendered without putting up a fight
And we let them grind us into the ground
We allowed external forces to crush us
The years have gone behind us
Time has passed
The things we've said and done
Reflecting on past words and deeds
It's strange to be nostalgic
Nostalgia is peculiar when you're still young (21)
When you're only 21
Being only 21 adds an unusual perspective
There came a time when you were gone,
There was a period when you were absent
When everything you stood for disappeared
Everything you stood for vanished
And now I look at the shadow left
Examining the remaining influence, doubtful of your return
And I doubt if you will reappear
Uncertain if you will reappear
'cause you've left a legacy of clones
You've left a legacy of imitations
Of broken minds in broken homes
Resulting in damaged minds and broken families
And it looks like I've become a memory
I seem to have become a fading memory
