And now, the end is near and so I face the final curtain
Expressing the approach of the end and confronting the final moments of life.
My friends I'll say it clear I'll state my case of which I'm certain
Clear declaration to friends, stating one's case with confidence and certainty.
I've lived a life that's full, I traveled each and every highway
Reflecting on a full life with diverse experiences, having traveled through various paths.
And more, much more than this I did it my way.
Emphasizing the assertion of individuality and having done things in a self-determined manner.
Regrets I've had a few, but then again too few to mention
Acknowledging a few regrets but considering them too insignificant to dwell upon.
I did what I had to do, I saw it through without exemption
Commitment to necessary actions without exemptions, seeing them through to completion.
I planned each charted course each careful step along the by-way
Strategically planning and carefully navigating through life's journey.
More much more than this I did it my way
Reiteration of having gone beyond conventional norms and doing things uniquely.
Yes there were times, I'm sure you knew, when I bit off more than I could chew
Acknowledging instances of taking on challenges beyond one's capacity.
But through it all when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out
Facing doubts head-on, overcoming challenges by confronting and dismissing them.
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
Conveying resilience, standing tall in the face of adversity, and staying true to one's approach.
I've loved I've laughed and cried, I've had my fill, my share of losing
Reflecting on the diverse experiences of love, laughter, and sorrow, having faced losses.
And now as tears subside I find it all, so amusing
Finding amusement as the intensity of emotions subsides with time.
To think I did all that, and may I say, not in a shy way
Expressing confidence in accomplishments without reservation or shyness.
Oh no, oh no not me, I did it my way
Asserting that the achievements were self-directed and not subject to external influence.
For what is a man? What has he got? If not himself, then he has not
Pondering on the essence of a man, emphasizing self-possession as the ultimate possession.
To say the things, he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
Advocating authenticity in expression, valuing genuine feelings over submissive words.
The record shows, I took the blows and did it my way
Highlighting resilience and the ability to endure hardships while maintaining personal integrity.
I did it my way
Reiteration of having lived life according to one's own terms and choices.
