So oft have I invoked thee for my Muse
Expressing the frequent invocation of a muse for inspiration.
And found such fair assistance in my verse
Acknowledging the valuable assistance received in creating poetry.
As every alien pen hath got my use
Noting that other writers have borrowed the speaker's inspiration.
And under thee their poesy disperse.
Recognizing the influence and widespread impact of the muse.
But thou art all my art and dost advance
Declaring that the muse is the sole source of artistic expression.
As high as learning my rude ignorance.
Highlighting the elevation of the speaker's humble ignorance by the muse.
Thine eyes that taught the dumb on high to sing
Attributing the ability to inspire eloquence and overcome ignorance to the muse's gaze.
And heavy ignorance aloft to fly.
Stating that the muse has empowered even the ignorant to reach great heights.
Have added feathers to the learned's wing
Describing the muse's impact on learned individuals, enhancing their abilities.
And given grace a double majesty.
Emphasizing the muse's contribution to grace and majesty in artistic expression.
But thou art all my art and dost advance
Reiterating that the muse is the essence and advancement of the speaker's art.
As high as learning my rude ignorance.
