Reflecting on the final page of a personal book or journal.
where I wrote down all my songs
Recording all personal songs in the book.
It seemed like it would last forever

Well I got depressed a bit but now
Experiencing a period of depression.
I seem to be alright
Currently feeling emotionally stable or recovered.
And I could stay right here forever
Expressing a desire to remain in the current state indefinitely.
And you know that I just might
Indicating a willingness to stay in the present situation.
Sometimes I think that I'd give it up
Contemplating the idea of giving up a pursuit, possibly music, for a job.
and maybe get a job
Weighing the possibility of engaging in conventional employment.
well it's never worked
Expressing past attempts at traditional work that were unsuccessful.
I hope it never does
Hoping to avoid future conventional work, emphasizing its negative impact.
There's truth in pain and love
Acknowledging the presence of truth in both pain and love.
And all the while you sit at home
Observing someone waiting at home for a significant event or change.
Just wait for something to break
Anticipating an occurrence that will disrupt the current situation.
And as you curl up your barefoot mountain
Describing a person curled up, emphasizing vulnerability, and allowing things to fade away.
let it slowly fade away
Accepting the gradual disappearance or conclusion of something significant.
