Lyrics

I stand like a rock

I remain strong and unyielding.

When the lights go down and the crowd is there.

In the dimming lights and amidst the audience.

For just a little time,

For a brief moment.

Togetherness, music and a rhyme.

Unity, music, and a poetic structure.

But then I'm alone again,

Afterwards, I confront solitude.

The melancholy walks and talks.

Engaging in sad, reflective walks and conversations.

Yesterday I saw myself,

Recalling a past version of myself.

And in a dream I lost myself.

Experiencing self-loss in a dream.

So solo.

Alone, embodying a sense of individuality.

Rebellion,

Acting in defiance.

I fight against myself, my fears are on the shelf.

Internal struggle against personal fears.

Wrap 'em up, push 'em away, but still they stay.

Attempting to suppress and distance these fears.

And yes I'm tough,

Acknowledging toughness.

But can I be tough as I need to be?

Questioning the adequacy of toughness.

I break like a rock

Vulnerability surfaces.

When the heartache comes and the thoughts go mad.

During heartache and chaotic thoughts.

For just a little time,

For a short duration.

I'm guilty of a nightlight crime,

Admitting to a mistake under the influence of light.

And by that light I see it too.

Observing the situation under the revealed truth.

Adrift and broken, torn in two.

Feeling lost and shattered.

So solo.

Alone, reiterating individuality.

Rebellion,

Defying conventional norms.

So solo.

Emphasizing solitude.

Rebellion,

Defying norms again.

I fight against myself,

Struggling against personal conflicts.

My fears are on the shelf.

Fears temporarily set aside but persistently present.

Tell myself they're put away, but still they stay.

Telling oneself that fears are stored away, yet they endure.
