Seems that I read, or somebody said
Reflecting on something heard or read, possibly about the adage that being out of sight leads to being out of mind.
That out of sight is out of mind
Considering the possibility that distance may affect emotions and relationships.
Maybe that's so but I tried to go
Despite the aforementioned idea, the speaker attempted to move on from the relationship.
And leave you behind, what did I find
Discovering or realizing something unexpected while trying to leave the past behind.
I took a trip on the train
Embarking on a journey, possibly metaphorical or literal.
And I thought about you,
Contemplating the past, particularly the memories associated with the person being left behind.
I passed a shadowy lane
Passing through a dimly lit path or period in life.
And I thought about you,
Reflecting on the person during moments of solitude or contemplation.
Two or three cars parked under the stars
Observing scenes with a few cars under the night sky, portraying a sense of quiet and stillness.
A winding stream
Describing a picturesque setting with a winding stream.
Moon shining down on some little town
Highlighting the moon illuminating a small town, triggering memories associated with a recurring dream.
And with each beam, same old dream
Repeating the same dream or thoughts related to the person being contemplated.
At every stop that we made
Reflecting on the thoughts of the person during stops along the journey.
Oh, I thought about you
Continuing to think about the person despite the movement forward.
But when I pulled down the shade
Feeling a sense of melancholy or sadness when shutting out external influences.
Then I really felt blue,
Experiencing a deeper emotional impact when isolating oneself from the surroundings.
I peeked through the crack
Secretly observing or contemplating the past through a crack or opening.
And looked at the track
Examining the path or journey that leads back to the person in question.
The one going back to you
Considering returning to the past and the emotions associated with it.
And what did I do
Reflecting on actions taken in response to the contemplation of the past.
I thought about you
Persistently thinking about the person despite efforts to move forward.
